Announcing the Service

When looking at the best way to let friends and family know, there are two aspects to bear in mind:

The thought of passing on the news of a death may be daunting and overwhelming, even more so where there are a lot of people to tell fairly quickly.

Some people may be told face-to face, for example friends, family and neighbours living close by. Others may have to be told with a phone-call, if living further away or even abroad.

If you have a large family or wide circle of friends, some of the responsibility for passing on the news to those close to you may be delegated to children or other family members.

We at Bewleys can help you reach a wider range of people (perhaps old neighbours, work colleagues and friends). We can achieve this by helping you put together a newspaper notice. We have experienced members of staff that can assist with local newspapers and national newspapers. Sometimes families who wish for a private service may announce the death in the newspaper after the funeral service. Please see our how to write a death notice or Acknowledgement notice section.

Online Obituaries

We can help you prepare and issue a funeral announcement, it should include name of your loved one, the funeral service date, time and location, floral tributes or charitable donations in-lieu and Funeral Directors details. This can be shared by you via email or social media.

We offer a facility for online Obituaries, through our Funeralzone service, allowing friends and families to share their memories and pass on messages at the time of your loss. The internet is growing in importance for funeral announcements, including online newspaper websites and social networking websites.

Some crematoria and cemeteries also offer web-casting to live-stream ceremonies to family and friends who are unable to attend.

We are on hand to assist with any of the above or any other funeral communication channels which you may wish to consider.
